The Pharoah refused because they had a good thing going with all those slaves. So God sent 8 plagues -- frogs, gnats, flies, boils, water turned to blood, cattle died, hail, and locusts. Finally, the Hebrew people left but in a hurry, in case the Egyptians changed their minds. In such haste, they took their unleavened bread (Matza).

The people wandered around the wilderness on their way to Israel. At one point, they were cornered with no way out. Ahead was the Strait of Aquaba, to the other were Egyptian warriors, and on the other, steep cliffs. Moses held his staff over the waters and they parted. He was a Hebrew born in Egypt when Hebrews were hated by Egyptians, especially the king, a.k.a., Pharoah, who decided all Hebrew baby boys would be killed. But Moses' mother put baby Moses in the basket by the Nile river. Pharoah's daughter discovered him.and decided to take him home as her own. Moses' sister suggested that she find a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby.
